AND SATURDAY THOSE TRAILERS FILLED WITH FURNITURE LEFT THE LOT. <TRUCK DRIVING NAT> <43:44-51″WE’VE ALL SEEN THE DESTRUCTION, THE TREES AND EVERYTHING ELSE OVER THERE, WE KNOW WHAT THE END RESULT OUT OF THIS IS THAT PEOPLE ARE GOING TO SUFFER FOR A LONG TIME. “> AND THE TRUCKS CAME FROM THE MOST LIKELY OF PLACES. <NATS OF KENDAL GETTING INTO THE TRUCK> CRST IS NATIONWIDE TRUCKING COMPANY– HEADQUARTERED IN CEDAR RAPIDS. A West Des Moines church is helping derecho victims all the way out in Cedar Rapids. Over the past three weeks the Lutheran Church of Hope has been collecting chairs, couches, and cushions to be donated to the victims of the August derecho in Cedar Rapids, the hardest hit city in the state where some still aren’t back in their homes.CRST International — a trucking company headquartered in Cedar Rapids — donated the trucks and the drivers to haul the furniture two hours to Linn County.The Lutheran Church of Hope partnered with Central Furniture Rescue in Cedar Rapids to make this happen.Church officials say this year has been tough on a lot of families for many reasons, not just the derecho. “We’re called to help our fellow man and when we see someone who has really taken a hit who is really down, we need to step up as a church community,” said Dave Schwartz, of the Lutheran Church of Hope.
